A new bird control program is beginning in Saskatchewan that will use Falcons as a natural form of pest control against other “pest species” of birds such as pigeons. Rich Ensby, one of the only people with a commercial bird abatement license in the province explains that “Falcons are a natural predator to all species of wild bird and by increasing a predatory presence on most commercial properties that have a bird problem, we can disrupt the everyday habits and the regular feeding patterns of pest species of birds.” He also goes on to explain that owning a Falcon is a big responsibility due to their predatory presence and only people who are trained and licensed should be able to handle these incredible creatures.

Rat infestations are on the rise in Toronto, and according to some of the top pest control professionals, there is no end in sight. Rodent extermination companies claim that they are receiving nearly double the amount of calls that they were receiving just a year ago. The cause of the increase in rat infestations can be contributed to several factors such as warmer winters allowing for easier reproduction, construction sites providing ideal habitats and sloppy garbage disposal giving the rats an easy access to food. On top of this, some pest control experts claim that the rats are also becoming more clever, figuring out how to avoid traps and go more unnoticed as they roam around homes and businesses.

Spiders are a common household pest in Mississauga, but we all know that the spiders found in Mississauga do not even come close to comparing to spiders in Australia. Gavin Shill, a veteran pest control expert from Brisbane with over 17 years of experience knows exactly what we are talking about. On Monday May 8th, Shill received a call from a homeowner who was petrified by what Shill explained to be the “mother of all spiders”. When he arrived, Shill was also distraught by the spider when he tried to escort it outside with a broom and realized that it was about three quarters the size of the broom head, with a leg span of about 20 cm. He then went on to explain that Huntsman spiders are actually very friendly creatures and act as a form of natural pest control, preying on other common pests.
